Wisdom of 5000 years
Ayurveda is not just medicine. It is a vast knowledge in all fields, systematized over 5,000 years. It is a complete doctrine of Cosmic harmony and man as part of it. It is a philosophy and lifestyle that includes precise rules of work, rest, sleep, eating, body and mind improvement with yoga practices, and other activities.
This kind of a lifestyle is fully compliant with the laws of nature, and the goal is to achieve life without disease so that one can fully go through the stages of his development to spiritual pursuits and complete freedom.
To live long, healthy and happy, man must realizes himself as a spiritual essence. That is why it is necessary to learn to self-watch – both the body and the consciousness. In Ayurveda there is no hostility to others – they are also perceived as part of the originally set harmony. When we desire happiness and health for us, we are capable to want it for the others.
In Ayurveda, the health is firstly harmony with ourself. People have to determine what is important and what is not important in life, to be aware of their goals, the stages of importance, how they will achieve them. If you are aware of yourself, you are in a harmonious, positive relationship with your loved ones, acquaintances, colleagues, with the rest of you and the people around you.
There is no coincidence while Ayurveda diagnosing, the Ayurveda therapist also asks questions about the patient’s personal relationship, his life goals, and so on. The discovery of imbalances in the spiritual world of the patient will help him with the treatment of the body.
In Ayurveda there are summarized four basic life goals, which are stages of personal development. They start from working to society, gaining wealth through work, saturation of all material desires, and realizing that life is more than just commitment to society and material pleasure.
Training and distribution of Ayurveda around the world
For a long time, Ayurveda’s knowledge was passed down orally by a sage to student. Students have been selected, grouped in a small circle where the enlightened haven’t been much.
1500 BC and Ayurveda
Around 1500 BC, Ayurveda had two main schools – a medical school and a surgical school. In the school they studied anatomy, physiology, types of diseases and their manifestations, their causes – external and internal to the organism, diagnostics, treatment.
The aging process has been specially studied, because longevity is the target of Ayurveda. Many herbal remedies and anti-aging therapies have been developed. The other school has specialized in various surgical techniques.
At a later stage, the universities have been established. For example, a document testifying to 10,000 pupils trained by 1500 teachers for the University of Nalanda. Other two major universities in the history of Ayurveda are in Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges and Takshashile, today in Pakistan. The two universities date back to the 6th century BC.
Already in ancient times, Ayurveda spreads over vast territories because of its whole approach – man, nature, high spirituality. In India, people from different parts of the world have arrived to study Ayurveda and apply it to their nations.
It influences medicine throughout the ancient world – Persia, Tibet, China, Indonesia, Egypt, ancient Greece and Rome, as it enters their cultures.
Ayurveda had not only bright moments. For it, the time between the 10th and 16th centuries of the New Age is not active because of invasions and heavy bizarreness in Indian territory. During the colonization, the British closed up Ayurveda schools.
Today, this medicine is very widespread in India, it has more than 1,000 colleges and goes into government policy. It is very popular around the world – there are Ayurveda centers on all continents, which benefit millions of people for treatment, detox, rejuvenation.
There is no illness that Ayurveda can not heal
By 1500 BC, Ayurveda had a methodology in several fields: general medicine, pediatrics, surgery, ophthalmology, poisons and antidotes, geriatrics, alcoholism and microorganisms, aphrodisiacs.
Ayurveda includes a comprehensive, environmentally friendly medicine that carries both body and mind, and has a cure for all diseases. For this ancient medicine, the disease is a violation of harmony, and treatment must restore it.
Therefore, it is not enough to cure the disease, it should be removed the caused of the disease. At the heart of the diseases are the poisons accumulated in the body from the unhealthy lifestyle – nutrition, daily regime, way of thinking. That is why a full detox of the body is applied through Purvarakma and Panchakarma. This is accompanied by a particular diet, yoga exercises, meditation.
Herbs, oils, potions, massages, rubbings, therapies – external and internal – are used in the treatment. In the first written texts of the pre-New Age, which are a long time since Ayurveda, there are 50,000 herbs and formulas for how to combine them for the treatment of various diseases. This medicine is already popular in Bulgaria, there are a lot of established Ayurvedic centers. In Ayurveda Clinic Bansko, for example, works a specialized Indian team headed by the Ayurveda Guru.
The two methods that are combined together in order to purify the body – Purvakarma and Panchakarma – have a healing effect recognized by the World Health Organization. The complete set of therapies and procedures are individually assigned to each individual patient according to the type and extent of the disease, the type of body, age, sex, general condition.
The result of treatment with Ayurveda is that a person heals, his body is released from free radicals, heavy metals, pesticides, toxins. This is accompanied by weight loss, where the muscle mass is not lost, the patient is rejuvenated, regaining his/her mental balance.
Last but not least, it is important that each patient receives specific advice from Ayurveda’s therapist about their lifestyle.
Emotions can cause accumulation of toxins in the body
For Ayurveda, physical and spiritual health are inseparable and every problem is common. They are like couplings. Diseases of the organs give rise to negative moods and emotions that takes away a man from his spiritual equilibrium. Different types of emotions and moods affect certain organs and may also cause toxins.
Emotions are a natural reaction of the individual when communicating with others. In a natural order, they are like the exchange of substances in the body. But if they are suppressed, their charge is not distracting and becomes harmful to the energy balance in the body. It is therefore important that one learns to express his emotions, not to hide them. This is part of the study of positive attitude towards others.
Particularly negative emotions such as fear, jealousy, hate, if they persist long, poison the spiritual beginning of man as toxins poison the body. Supportive fear, for example, makes a person suspicious, he is distancing himself from people, manifesting coldness that sooner or later develops in indifference. In addition, negative emotions are harming very specific organs. Suppressed anger, for example, affects the activity of the bile and liver, and can also cause inflammation of the lining of the stomach, the small intestine. Permanent anxiety causes problems with the colon, fear with the kidneys, sadness with the lungs, and so on.
How to avoid this harmful influence? If a person does not enter Ayurveda and does not practice spiritual activities – meditation, yoga, exercise for positive thinking, can distract the bad emotional charge with physical activities without overload – walks in the nature, swimming, fitness. Conversation with a relative also helps.
But first of all, one must realize that emotions are a personal response and a point of view. There are no fatal events, time heals everything.
Eating according to Ayurveda and the mistakes many people make
Among the rules of Ayurveda there are some very practical ones for everyday life, which are especially relevant in the context of the mass practice in our country. They are related to disease prevention.
For Ayurveda, harmful food is the root of all diseases because it delays toxins in the body. Equally harmful is the wrong way of eating. Even properly selected food can lose its charge and not benefit the body or even harm it if the way of eating is not right.
Eating is three times a day. Nowadays many people find it difficult to “fix” certain hours. But they can at least keep the intervals between meals – at least 4 hours.
Dinner should be early – over 3 hours before bedtime. In the evening, digestion is slower, and if it is just before sleep, much of the food is not digested. Thus, toxins are formed. That’s why it’s really bad habit if you eat “for the whole day” in the evening.
Eating should not be “on foot” or in front of the computer, the TV, and other distracting activities. Especially if they are loaded with negative news. They give people negative energy, and for the food to be useful, it must be consumed in a calm, balanced state of mind.
The attention should be focused on the diet – what, how, in what order is consumed. Otherwise – and this happens to many people, after eating becomes heavy on the stomach, people rarely feel when they are satiated and when they are just full with food.
And another wrong thing that many people do. Taking a nap after having lunch. When we sleep the body functions are also relaxed. In addition after lunch, digestion needs to be active, it slows down with sleep. Again, indigestion food and deposited poisons are coming. It is useful to replace the nap after eating with a short walk.
