What is dyspepsia?
The term dyspepsia summarizes various problems in digesting food in the gastrointestinal tract. It occurs more or less complexly with nausea, vomiting, heartburn, gas, weight or abdominal bloating, which may be after a meal but also on a hungry stomach. Typically, these symptoms are accompanied by abdominal pain, most commonly in the upper abdomen.
This condition is known colloquially as Indigestion and is widespread because it is mainly associated with inappropriate food and improper diet.
Dyspepsia is two main types – functional and organic
In functional, there is no specific stomach or intestinal disease that causes symptoms and overall discomfort. It is usually caused by the diet – consumption of incompatible foods that interfere with degradation, fast food, alcohol, overeating or other extreme – malnutrition, etc.
In the organic there is already a specific disease of the gastrointestinal tract. This may be a disturbed activity of the stomach muscles to “expel” food on the tract; ulcers; disorders that allow the return of gastric contents to the esophagus, and it irritates its lining with its acidity; malignant formations. Problems may also come from organ illnesses that significantly contribute to digestion – for example, bile and liver.
According to the main disruptions in food degradation, dyspepsia is divided into three types. The former is fermentable, the second is decaying, the third fatty, and they are accompanied by a change in the bacterial environment in the gut.
The fermentative is associated with abnormal decomposition of carbohydrates, which causes gas. Corsets, a feeling of swelling in the abdomen, aching. In decaying dyspepsia, the disorders are in the breakdown of the protein, which occurs with decaying decomposition. Once again gases are formed – methane, hydrogen, hydrogen sulphide and others. Fat dyspepsia is poor fat degradation.
Natural treatment of dyspepsia
In organic dyspepsia, treatment is more specific according to the established problem – it may be an ulcer, it may be gastritis, various infections in the gastrointestinal tract, etc. As with functional dyspepsia, however, food and eating habits are also essential here. The rules here are part of the general principles of Ayurveda for nutrition.
One should not eat when under stress or under strong emotion – he must be absent, calm, focused only on food. She should chew well, not to swallow big holes. During eating, many fluids, especially cold, should not be drunk because they reduce digestion.
The variety of flavors that must be present in the food should not be provided with many types of dishes that will fill the digestive system, but moderately spice. Avoid stale food and fried food.
For the treatment of dyspepsia has different herbs, many of which are combined with action and are beneficial not only for digestion, but also for the whole body – pain relief act against germs, viruses, bacteria. The juniper, for example, has anti-inflammatory action, while removing nausea, reducing the gas, disappearing the sensation of swelling. Against nausea and vomiting, basil and ginger are also beneficial, which also removes stomach weight after eating. Mint tea quickly relieves heartburn, the chamomile relieves pain and tension.
In the treatment of dyspepsia, specialized massages with different natural oils – cardamom, rosemary, mint, coriander can be used. There are also some yoga practices that remove the abdominal pain and the feeling that it is swollen. Some of the yoga postures help the gut contraction to move the food and generally activate the activity of the gastrointestinal tract.
