Sinusitis is an inflammation of the tissue that wraps the sinuses, which leads to infection, mucus buildup and pain. Most sinus infections are actually caused by colds or viruses. Antibiotics are very commonly used conventional treatment for this disease.

Conventional treatment

 

For sinus infection, many doctors will recommend corticosteroids, decongestants, painkillers, and fevers.  Antihistamines, mucolytics and antibiotics, if your symptoms persist for more than 10 days or if your sinus infection is considered to be bacterial. If your sinus infection is of viral origin, then you do not need antibiotic treatment in any case.

  • Water – Adequate hydration is the key to flushing viruses out of your body. Drink 1/4 glass of water every 2 hours.
  • Vegetable Chicken Broth Helps soothe the nasal cavities and respiratory system and gives you important minerals.
  • Horseradish – mix a small amount with lemon to make it even more potent.
  • Ginger – Make ginger tea and add pure honey to it.
  • Garlic and onions – Both vegetables help boost the immune system.
  • Foods Rich in Vitamin C – Consuming foods high in Vitamin C can also boost your immune system.

 Foods and Beverages to Avoid:

  • Sugar – Lowers white blood cells, which help fight infection
  • Fruit juices – Although orange juice contains little vitamin C, it is not as high in vitamin C as whole fruits or vegetables
  • Dairy products – Milk and other milk products produce mucus. Avoid them
  • Refined flour and cereals – All refined cereals cause greater mucus production.
  • Salt – Without adequate water intake, salt can be dehydrating

Oregano oil

Oregano oil contains carvacrol and thymol compounds which have potent antibacterial and antifungal properties. Take 500 milligrams of oregano oil four times a day.

You can also add a few drops to a large bowl of freshly boiled water and inhale the fragrant steam for a few minutes, which will help clear your nasal passages. Repeats several times a day.

Grapefruit seed extract

Grapefruit seed extract has powerful antiviral properties, so it is included in many nasal and throat sprays. Use it four times a day.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is essential for the proper functioning of your immune system. It protects your body from infection and also helps it fight infections.

As an antioxidant, Vitamin C also helps protect cells from free radical damage, polluted air and cigarette smoke.

Take 1000 milligrams of vitamin C three times a day.

Garlic

Garlic is a natural antibiotic. Since colds often lead to sinus infection, taking it is a great way to not only cure naturally sinus infection, but also prevent it.

In one study, a group of people took the honest supplement and the other placebo for 12 weeks during the cold season (between November and February). Garlic recipients were less likely to have a cold and recovered faster, if cold, than the people in the placebo group.

Take 1-3 cloves of fresh garlic a day.

Echinacea

Echinacea is a herb that can help your body fight off many viruses and bacteria. Scientific studies show that echinacea contains active substances that are anti-viral and boost the immune system, while reducing pain and inflammation, which is the perfect combination for treating sinus infection.

Using Net sweat / this is a pot with a spout / with saline can also significantly improve your sinus problem and clear your airways. This process is called “nose irrigation”.

Add Humidity

Whether it’s an air humidifier, saline nasal spray, or sitting in a tub full of steam, adding more moisture to your air and nasal ducts, you can really help reduce blockage. Sleep on humidifier while you are being treated for sinus infection. A steam inhalation is especially good for reducing sinus headache.

 Essential oils

Using eucalyptus and peppermint oil can be very helpful in clearing your sinuses naturally. These essential oils can open your sinuses, clear them and eliminate infections.

Rub one drop of oil on the palate of your mouth (do this with only food grade essential oils). Then drink water. Another great idea is to spray essential oils in the air so you can inhale them.
