What are the Ayurveda methods of treating phobias?

Phobias are a particular case of an anxiety disorder characterized by intense, often unexplained, panic that is triggered by certain stimuli – objects, animals or phenomena.

There are a number of causes and risk factors that can lead to a phobic disorder . Immediate family members of the phobia sufferers are at about three times the risk of developing the same condition as those who do not have such a family history.

However, it is also believed that in addition to genetics, environmental influences, such as the parental approach when we are young, play a major role in the disease. People whose parents have been overly cautious or too distant emotionally are often at greater risk of phobias.

Phobias can also occur as a result of the so-called. classic conditioning, in which an individual is triggered by a reaction to something that provokes fear by generalizing it. For example, as a result of a traumatic experience associated with a dog attack, a person can develop a phobia of any dog .

Phobia is usually difficult to diagnose and treatable on its own, as it usually manifests itself in a complex of mental and physiological states . Alcoholics, for example, are several times more likely to develop phobic conditions than people who are not addicted to alcohol. Conversely, phobias sufferers are twice as likely to become alcoholic or addicted.

In such an enchanted circle are patients with heart disease. In addition, the symptoms of phobias often resemble those of a panic attack – in addition to psychiatric symptoms including intense fear or even horror , sweating, tremor, nausea, difficulty breathing, and palpitations are observed . Usually, in addition, one has a great desire to withdraw from the situation or object that is the impetus for his phobic reaction.

Although whole periods of improvement and relief of symptoms are observed, phobias usually remain lifelong unless one receives timely and adequate treatment.

In modern Western medicine, it is accepted that phobia sufferers recover most effectively when subjected to a combination of psychotherapy and medication – most often selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, etc.), and sometimes betblockers as well as tranquilizers such as Xanax and Diazepam . One approach is the gradual and metered exposure to the stimuli of phobic disorder. This method is called desensitization . Apply and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

So-called selective or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are drugs that increase serotonin levels in the brain. However, their effect varies and often diminishes over time as a result of getting used to it, and the side effects they cause are not neglected. Often these can be dry mouth, nausea and tremor , as well as more serious abnormalities such as sleep problems, sexual dysfunction, dizziness, and blurred vision . In rare cases, phobias can lead to suicide.

Ayurvedic teachings view phobias as a consequence of the imbalance of the vata dosha , which contributes to fear, mental instability, anxiety and insomnia. According to the teachings, disturbances in wattage are manifested as a side effect of toxins that accumulate in the tissues of the body and disrupt its fragile biochemistry.

Their levels can be controlled or influenced by many factors, including diet, exercise and daily routine . The best side of the remedies offered by Ayurveda for eliminating phobias is that they have absolutely no risk and have no side effects. However, in Ayurveda , we do not use medicines to combat the specific symptoms of the condition, because according to Ayurvedic medicine, people can show the same symptoms for different reasons.

To relieve stress under the influence of phobic seizures , a herb marsh tear can be taken in the form of tea. The marsh saddle helps to calm both mental and physical symptoms such as palpitations and disorders of the digestive system.

Other natural tranquilizers that are highly effective are the herbal Baikal helmet, coffee, chamomile, jatamansi and passionflower . Especially suitable is the herb tagar, which in addition to calming the nervous system, helps our body to get rid of toxins .

Lemon or lime juice , as well as the smell of these fruits, can be used to counteract some of the physical ailments that accompany phobic attacks, such as nausea.

Always consume your milk boiled and slightly warm , you can add some cardamom, cinnamon or dried ginger to it . Vata dosha is calmed by warm soups and stews, most types of cereals and seeds, rice, whole milk, purified butter, cooked vegetables, avocados, nuts and other nuts . However, it should not be overdone with peanuts, peas, honey, as well as foods that are bitter or pungent.
